Great Leap Forward

Story starts from the foundation of Jinan Iron & Steel Company in 1958 with the campaign named the Great Leap Forward led by Chairman Mao Zedong in China. At that time, pioneers from all over the China were brought in to this burgeoning company. They constructed mills and furnaces as well as parks and houses. My grandparents were among them.

Prosperity

After generations of hard work, Jinan Iron&Steel Company had become a well-developed community with its own hospitals, schools and stadiums. National musicians and singers were invited to perform in the stadium. Viewers from all the Jinan city once filled the main road to watch the lantern shows here. And I was born at the best of times in 1999.

Pollution and Replacement of old growth drivers

As I grew older, people were more aware of the environmental problems. In recent years, the government has decided to speed up the replacement of old growth drivers with new ones. Jinan Iron&Steel Company, the crystallization of sweats and efforts of generations, ceased production in 2017.

In the same year, I left for Shanghai to study for my bachelor degree in business, hoping to work for a bluer sky and cleaner water through analytics and management at the source of decisions.

As for now, I am still on this way in London Business School.
